About

Bury Samaritans are taking on Samarathon for the month of July. Samarathon is the fundraising challenge that fits around your life. The aim is to complete 26.2 miles throughout the month of July. Miles can be completed wherever and whenever you like throughout the month. While most joining in will be walking or jogging, this challenge is for everyone. Anyone can take part however they like, and we encourage you to get creative and adapt the challenge to suit your own needs. Getting active can do wonders for you mental wellbeing

Here ar Bury Samaritans though we are doing things that little bit different. On the 24th July many of us are doing 26.2 miles all in one go! The date is 24/7 and that illustrates that the Samaritans are there 24 hours of the day, 7 days a week. As well as the marathon day we have walks throughout July in all the neighbourhoods of Bury so be sure to look out for us in our bright green coloured t-shirts when we come to your area. Also, we really need the public’s continued support. Due to the cancellation of many of our fundraising events over the past couple of years, we’re facing a significant loss of funding, so it would be brilliant if you could help us ensure that we continue to be here for anyone who needs support. Many people think we are funded by the Central Charity but we have to raise funds each year to keep the branch open. Donating on this page ensures every penny you donate is used at Bury branch alone.

Getting active can work wonders for your mental wellbeing. Samarathon is a great goal to motivate people to go at that their own pace. Whatever your age or ability, it’s a challenge to do in your time, at your pace, wherever you live or work.

Its free to sign up to Samarathon, but we’d love for everyone to raise whatever they can to support Bury Samaritans and help us be there for anyone struggling to cope.

A number of our volunteers and their families and friends will be joining in and we’ll post images of their progress on our twitter feed @BurySams during July.

We know how difficult things are at the moment financially but literally every penny counts. Whether you donate a penny or £100 it will help for us to keep the branch going.
