Sharon’s Big Swim for Samaritans of Walsall & District
Sharon Dicken
My Story
Samaritans answer a call for help every 10 seconds. We are open 24/7 and are available to listen to people in emotional distress/crisis. Every call costs us £5, so any donation made to us can make a difference.
Having swam Coniston from end to end, I was looking for a bigger challenge! When I saw the Thames Marathon swim. A 9.5 mile swim from Henley to Marlow along a beautiful part of the Thames. So having originally planned to do this in 2020, now after Covid related delays, I'm now ready to dip my toe in the Thames. Swimming five times a week with my buddies at The Village Hotel in Walsall, and with open water sessions at Chasewater and Carpenwray.
I hope I will be able to complete this challenge, even if it meanS floating like a Pooh stick to the end. I expect to be in the water for 6 hours, unless it rains heavily before the swim and the current is faster. If you can donate anything at all that would be great.
